Music Recording

After no one turning up for casing we decided to take the chance to record our films music in the sound studio. The session was very productive and we managed to get a lot of useful recordings. James was in charge of the recording while I was assisting him and transferring messages to Katherine who was in the booth recording the music.

Week 1 casting

This week we had our first 2 casting sessions on Wednesday and Friday. We had been in contact with several drama students from Canterbury Christ Church University to the run up of casting with at least 6 people expected to turn up to either of the sessions. On Wednesday we had two people turn up with one being given the newsreader role straight away in our heads. The other did a good audition and we are waiting for actors to audition before deciding this individuals role.

Today we had day two of auditions which was very disappointing as we had been told 4 people were coming to find out 15 minutes before casting started that no one was coming. To make use of the studio we had booked we used it instead to record out music which will be in a later post.

We are hopeful that 3 more people are going to audition next Wednesday.

Casting list

Selecting the main character names has been much harder than I originally thought as each person in the group has different ideas and preferences. We spent several days thinking of ideas for the character names and several hours choosing the best one. We also did not stick to names at first, Nate was originally Liam which then got changed to Matthew and finally Nate.

Bradley's name was the first we all decided on with minimal name changes. We chose this name as it makes you imagine a physically and mentally strong man who is a good leader. As his character is the leader and main person of the group we thought this name will be ideal for this character.

When deciding Brooke and Nate's names we focused on what names will go well with each other. Brooke's name was decided quickly but her partners name took several days to decide as we needed a name that will go well with Brooke's but also suit the character.

Casting:

Brooke

Nate

Bradley

News reporter (man or women)

Woman that consults Brooke

Guy who speaks during meeting

Zombies

Other survivors
