Film discription

Our Films is called RedHill which was thought of by James and Katherine after thinking of a name of the town that the last few scenes are based in.

The film starts in a small camp site where the survivors of a outbreak of the n11 disease spreads causing zombies to be formed. The story continues as they run out of food and need to go into the closest town with supplies called RedHill where zombies have spread. The main characters are Brook and Nate who are the couple in the group. As the group splits to go to get supplies and to stay behind the couple do as well. When Brook finds out several days later that RedHill and the disease within it will be destroyed her panic to the save the others grows and her epic struggle to save them starts.

Will they get out of RedHill alive ?

Filming: zombie scene

Yesterday we filmed our opening scene of our zombies. Our location was behind the Stacey building and we needed to get a range of shots of the zombies walking, including close ups of their faces and feet, along with mid shots. Myself and James took turns to use the camera and the boom while Hannah was in charge of make up and Katherine was helping with setting up shots and guiding the cameraman as we were filming on uneven ground and had to walk backwards with the camera.
Over all the filming went well and we got the exact out come we were hoping for from filming.

Week 2 casting

Today we had a very good casting session with four people turning up. After auditioning each of them for the same role and getting them to act with each other we found the perfect actresses for most of the female roles.

We have planned one more casting session next Wednesday to audition to actors. We will then decide our final main character cast before trying to find extras as zombies.

We did these auditions so that we were able to find the best actors for the parts we needed. To do the auditions we gave each actor a script and got them to act out the parts that we needed them too.

Music Recording

After no one turning up for casing we decided to take the chance to record our films music in the sound studio. The session was very productive and we managed to get a lot of useful recordings. James was in charge of the recording while I was assisting him and transferring messages to Katherine who was in the booth recording the music.

Week 1 casting

This week we had our first 2 casting sessions on Wednesday and Friday. We had been in contact with several drama students from Canterbury Christ Church University to the run up of casting with at least 6 people expected to turn up to either of the sessions. On Wednesday we had two people turn up with one being given the newsreader role straight away in our heads. The other did a good audition and we are waiting for actors to audition before deciding this individuals role.

Today we had day two of auditions which was very disappointing as we had been told 4 people were coming to find out 15 minutes before casting started that no one was coming. To make use of the studio we had booked we used it instead to record out music which will be in a later post.

We are hopeful that 3 more people are going to audition next Wednesday.
